T is for touch tour

I am happy to be part of  ABC’s of nature series, hosted by School Time Snippets! For 26 days, 26 bloggers share a letter of the alphabet and a nature themed idea.  This post is about letter “T”.Nature is rich in texture. It has both tactile and visual texture. Please join me and my toddler, as we took a “touch tour” to experience visual texture and explore tactile texture.

The first thing that attracted my daughter’s attention was grass. I was encouraging her to tell  how she felt when she touched different things.

She moved on to tree bark. Tree barks sure had interesting texture to invite her to touch.

At last but not the least, she had access to the soil. This girl loves playing in soil, sand or mud.

Surely nature has the ability to teach through one of the five senses – touch.

Is it Rough? Is it Smooth? Is it Shiny? has very interesting pictures with no text. No text leads to a lot of interpretation and it is good for all ages.

Smooth or Rough has great photographs. The texts are repetitive and engaging.
