Paper Mâche Bowl

My daughter always likes to make something which she can really use. Though paper mache bowls may not hold heavy items, we use it to store petty things.
Materials Needed :
1. A bowl – to cover with paper and create paper bowl
2. Papers
3. Polythene cover to wrap the bowl
4. Glue
5. Acrylic paint (optional)
1. We used Elmer school glue. Mix 2 portion of glue with one portion of water to make a thin glue solution
2. Tear the papers into manageable pieces
3. Cover the bowl with Polythene paper
4. Apply a thin coat of glue solution over the covered bowl and start pasting the torn paper
5. Once a layer of paper is done, apply a thin coat of glue again. Start the second layer of paper. Repeat this process till 3 to 4 layers of paper has covered the bowl.
6. Let it dry for 10 – 12 hours
7. Once dried, carefully remove the paper bowl. The polythene paper we used will help to remove the paper bowl easily without being stuck to the original bowl
8. Paint if you want

Even after 6 months of use, our bowl is still holding.
Note : Later I learnt that if you use only water (No glue) for the first layer of paper, then we need not use polythene paper. But I have not tried it yet.
