Ink bolt shamrock painting

Inkbolt Shamrock

Hi Everyone,
We had created inkbolt art when my 7 year old daughter was 2 year old! Recently we created Shamrocks using the same technique. She is learning about symmetry at school and hence it is a perfect activity.

Material needed :
1. Paper – we used printer paper
2. Paint
3. Paint Brush
Method:

1. Fold the paper in half.   Open the fold. Draw half of the shamrock in one side of the fold. My daughter wanted to create a perfect Shamrock. So she drew the hearts (actually 1.5 hearts) using a heart shaped cookie cutter

2. Color the drawing with paint.

3. Fold the paper and gently press
4. Open the paper to reveal the Shamrock.
We explored the technique with various types of paint.

Very thick acrylic paint tore away the paper when we opened the fold

Slightly watered acrylic paint produced perfect result

Half of the water color dried out before even we folded the paper

Cheap paint which came with kit produced mediocre effect! Not bad..
Who said Shamrock should always be in Green?

A very simple art technique which teaches mathematical concept too.
