Watermelon activity painting ideas for kids

Watermelon printing

As I have mentioned in my printed ladybugs post, we love printing. When my elder daughter saw my toddler’s ladybugs, she wanted to do a printing project. Using the same technique, we made watermelon this time.

Materials needed :

1. Potato

2. Tempera paint

3. Sharpie permanent marker

Method :
1. Cut the potato into halves.
2. Cut the half again to make a semi circle.
3. Dip the cut potato in the paint and press it in the paper to make prints.

4. Draw the outer portion of the watermelon with the green marker. It is better to draw after the paint is dried. But we did when the paint was wet. Hence there was a gap between the paint and marker which we filled after the paint was dried.

5. Once the paint was dried, draw seeds with black marker.

This is a fun and simple summer project. Kids of all ages will enjoy doing this.
