Crepe paper flower for kids

Crepe paper flowers

Crepe paper flowers are beautiful. We tried a very simple method to make them.
After we used the store brought artificial flowers for our flower hair clips, the stems and leaves were waiting for us to make them some flowers. We used those for attaching our crepe paper flowers. If they were not available, I would have attached the flowers to floral wire or pipe cleaners.

Materials needed:
1. Crepe paper
2. Glue
3. Scissors
4. Tape (optional)

Method:

1. Cut around 10 inches of crepe paper

2. Fold them 2 – 3 times and cut out triangles from one side.

3. Start rolling the paper around the floral wire or pipe cleaner. The triangles should be at the top and will look like petals. The paper should be rolled loosely, gathering and holding tight at the bottom. The paper can be rolled slightly tight, if a bud is required.

4. Glue the end of the paper at the bottom. We tried tape for one of the flowers and it was showing.

5. We made six flowers for our bouquet and the project got over within thirty minutes.

My eight year old was not completely comfortable with rolling at the beginning. But soon she got hang of it. The project was easy for her.

  1. My nan used to make bunches of crepe paper flowers and daffodils were her favourite. I remember her getting me to help by wrapping wire in long thin strips of green crepe paper, I love the way you have used existing stems left from something else – very clever.
