Construction paper purse idea for kids

Construction paper purse

When I was young, I learnt a very simple procedure to make this paper purse from my grandmother. I used to make for my younger cousins and they all loved carrying their purses. I taught my daughter how to make this purse.

Materials needed:
1. Construction paper
2. Scissors
3. Glue
4. Yarn or ribbon
5. Contact paper (optional)
6. Markers, glitters, crayons for decorations (optional)
Method:
1. Fold the paper in half  along the longer side. Crease.
2. Fold the paper again width wise (perpendicular to the previous fold) bringing one end of the paper, close to the other end leaving at least 2 inches.Refer the second picture above. Crease.
3. Have the second fold at the bottom. Cut out a triangle from one of the sides. The triangle cut out will determine the shape of the purse.

4. Open the paper. Fold along the already made length wise crease. That makes the body of the purse. You can see the shape of the purse.

5. Make the flap of the purse at the top by folding the paper.

6. Decorate if you want. My daughter decorated with glitter glue which took a lot of time to dry.

7. Glue a piece of yarn or ribbon on the inside top portion of the purse.

8. We used contact paper to increase the life of the purse which is optional.

The beautiful purse is done. It may look like a tedious procedure but it is a very simple. Try it out with your kids. My elder daughter enjoyed making this and my toddler enjoyed carrying this.
