Various egg activities for toddlers

I was planning for a long time to let my toddler create contact paper sun catcher. Since we are doing Easter activities as of now, I cut out an egg shape from the contact paper to decorate with tissue paper. It suddenly struck me to use the uncut portion of the contact paper as a stencil. We used the stencil to  paint in the paper as well as in our window. So we did 3 activities using the same contact paper.
Activity 1 : Contact paper sun catcher
This is the original planned activity. Affiliation links are used. Please see the complete disclosure policy here. Thanks for supporting the blog!
Material needed:
2. Color tissue paper

3.Construction Paper

I removed the contact paper’s backing and placed the sticky side facing upwards. My toddler was obviously got attracted to the glitter. She liberally used the glitter and almost filled the contact paper.

We did not have much place left out to stick our tissue or construction paper as the glitter almost covered our egg. But managed to stick pieces of paper. Once she was satisfied with the sticking, I just pasted the contact paper egg sun catcher on the window with the tape.

Activity 2 : Paint egg on a plain paper

Material needed:
1.Clear Contact Paper – Uncut portion as egg stencil

2.Tempera paint

3. Brushes

I stuck the contact paper egg stencil on a piece of white paper using the tape. My daugther used yellow paint to color inside. When she asked for another color, I gave her Orange.

When she was done, I removed the stencil. The beautiful egg painting is done!
Activity 3 : Drawing egg in the window using homemade window paint

I mixed the tempera paint with the dish washing shop in the ratio of 1:1 to create the window paint. I stuck the contact paper directly in the window by removing the backing.

The window paint was little translucent. My daughter liked to mix the paint in the plate rather then paint in the window.

We did the activity around 9:30 in the morning and the window still had dew from previous night. The dish washing soap in the paint started foaming with the dew in the window. My daughter used her hands to paint and play.

As you see , the window paint was watery and not very vibrant. As soon as I removed the contact paper, it started to drip. I think I should have waited for the paint to dry.
Overall, my toddler was exposed to 3 different medium. She enjoyed the activities.

  1. These are great art activities. I bet she really enjoyed each one. I may have to get our contact paper and do the same thing so we can have some Easter window decorations.
