Cereal box woven basket

Weaving is one of our favorites. We tried weaving a basket out of cereal boxes.
Materials :
1. Cereal boxes – 2 boxes
2. Hot glue gun
3. X-acto knife
Steps :

Cut the top and bottom flaps from the cereal boxes.  Open the boxes along the seams and cut  1 inch strips length wise. We had around 48 strips from 2 boxes. We made lengthy strips by gluing 2 strips together.
Lay eight strips with the design side facing the floor. Weave 8 strips through them. Bring the strips closer to have a nice and tight base. Now the base looks like a plus sign.
Fold the loose ends upwards to form the side of the basket. Weave the remaining strips through the sides.  Trim and glue each row with hot glue.  We made 4 side rows for our basket.
Once the desired length is reached, we cut the remaining strips. It did not leave a clear edge. I think, for clear edge,  we should have folded the remaining strips inside and pasted. But my daughter did not care. She is very happy with the basket we made. She used a strip to make a handle.
The basket is used for storing her soft toys!
Happy Weaving!!
